Noise, tonus, tone
The world, from a sonic perspective, reverberates in a strange and endless cacophony, simultaneously amplifying and phasing out senses and sensibilities, human/non-human, technical/natural. How are our individual and social bodies entangled with such chaos and noise? As our bodies continue to mutate among complex varieties of habits/habitus/habitats we attempt to listen for resources of survival and care.
In this session we will continue to connect to and experiment with the embodied nature of listening, its sensory socio-political potential, its poetics. This session will happen at Zabriskie and outdoors, weather permitting.
Deep Listening is an interdisciplinary awareness and attention practice created by composer Pauline Oliveros, using as main resources listening and sounding scores or meditations, somatic exercises, and imaginal/dream play. In these sessions, we incorporate concepts, techniques and perspectives from other somatic practices to facilitate experience and understanding of the embodied nature of listening. It is open to anyone interested in exploring embodied listening as a means to research, play, and recreate relationships with selves, others, and environments.
Bring comfortable clothes, water, and pen/notebook.
Everyone is welcome - no further knowledge of Deep Listening is required.
