The Recipe Exchange - Workshop, Session 2: Making sodas and vinegar + Situated recipe writing

Using rosehips foraged from Berlin’s local landscape, we explore our urban landscape. Participants will craft fermented sodas and begin a vinegar for the final session + Through recipe writing, we create shared instructions, tools for passing on knowledge and fostering community through place-based practice.

The Recipe Exchange is a four-part workshop that invites participants to rethink recipes as pathways for rituals and shared experiences. Central to this exploration is the figure of the “recipient” –the Other, the counterpart– and the question of how passing on recipes can create spaces of exchange and togetherness. Across sessions, participants create recipes to guide a feeling or ritual, pass them on to others who reinterpret or transform them, and explore new artistic, craft, or food-based techniques as starting points for recipe-making. This circular exchange weaves together stories, gestures, and practices. The series culminates in a publication collecting the recipes and reflections generated throughout the collective process.
