How do we nourish ourselves?
Have you ever thought about the life of your digestion?
How can we digest feminism collectively?
Digesting Feminism is a collective practice where feminist theories will meet the power of fermentation through embodied acts of digestion. We will hear stories from Monja Simons Publication Sauerkraut and experience to eat home fermented Sauerkraut. Inspired by Elizabeth A. Wilson research about “Gut Feminism” this workshop sees the body as connected to the outside world and how this relationship is shaping our gut.
We will use digestion as a starter to a feminist discourse, practice embodied listening and recipe-like writing exercises helping us to process what is stuck in our body. Digesting Feminism can strengthen reflection with the self and others, through digesting collectively. It is for anyone interested in feminism, food, wellbeing and sensing their gut.
Everyone is welcome!

Monja Simon is a Berlin-based Social Food Designer. Her work combines critical and experimental Design to explore the intersections of food production, commoning practices, and regenerative infrastructures. Drawing on ancestral fermentation techniques, Monja cultivates networks of kinship, which ground her explorations into feminist theory, ecological care, and invisible labor. Raised on a Schwarzwald dairy farm, her practice is deeply informed by the gender and class struggles she witnessed, as well as the intergenerational knowledge passed through traditional food practices like Sauerkraut Fermentation.
