Afrosonica

Based on a collective research initiative and exhibition, the book Afrosonica offers a reflection on African and Afro-diasporic sound, published in collaboration with the Museum of Ethnography in Geneva (MEG). By bringing together artists, scholars, and musicians, the book deconstructs Western-centric discourses and approaches to museology and ethnomusicology, while exploring inclusive and renegotiated ways to intersect heritage, technology, and futurism.

Through in-depth conversations, essays, photographs, and artworks, the book invites further investigation into the Afro-diasporic) traces found in various musical phenomena across the globe. It encourages a critical rethinking of how we make sense of these traces through power-balanced and decentralised narratives.
