Ale Borea - Onda Corta - Tape

“Onda Corta” is a long-duration sound collage composed from fragments of short-wave radio recordings, sourced from The Conet Project and various online archives. It emphasizes the phantasmagoric and omnipresent qualities of recorded and transmitted sound.

Rather than presenting a sound-object frozen in time (a historical fragment that exists only when tuned in by a listener) the work explores the sound of these signals as an anonymous, unfolding process, a continuous act of wandering.

Each track title draws an analogy between the short-wave radio signal and the soldier: both raw materials in the machinery of war, both secretly yearning to return to a lost state of peace.

"Onda corta" es un collage sonoro realizado a partir de fragmentos de grabaciones de radio de onda corta (SWR) del Conet Project, así como de grabaciones caseras disponibles en Internet. La pieza destaca el carácter fantasmagórico y omnipresente de estos sonidos, que se despliegan de forma autónoma y anónima, en un rango de frecuencias (banda del espectro electromagnético entre 3 y 30 MHz) cuya captación se corresponde con una tecnología casi obsoleta. Se retoman micro samples de transmisiones espías o propagandas políticas dándoles un carácter onírico y fantasmal.

Los nombres de las pistas establecen una analogía entre la señal-SWR y el soldado como materia prima y maquinaria de guerra, que anhela secretamente volver a un pasado perdido de "paz".
