Hambacher Wald

The protests around the Hambach Forest attracted worldwide attention in 2018. Activists from the climate movement forced the energy company RWE, operator of Europe's largest opencast lignite mine, to change course and prevent further overexploitation of nature. Germany agreed on a coal phase-out law and the Hambach Forest became a symbol of the climate movement.

Wir leben in einer entscheidenden Zeit. Zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte haben wir es geschafft, das Klima unserer Erde von einem stabilen hin zu einem unberechenbaren Zustand der Extreme zu verändern. We are living in a pivotal point in time. For the first time in history we have changed the climate of our earth from a stable to an unpredictable state of extremes. This book tells the story of people who made a stand against a large company. They built tree houses, found new ways of living together and thus saved the forest and changed germany's climate policy.
