This notebook reproduces several of the 24 color plates engraved on steel, based on drawings by Édouard Hocquart and Joseph Bordes, created to illustrate the atlas accompanying The History of Edible and Poisonous Mushrooms: Presenting Their Distinguishing Characteristics, Their Nutritional and Economic Properties, Their Harmful Effects, and the Means of Protecting Against or Remedying Them. Written by Joseph Roques and published in 1841, this work was intended for mushroom enthusiasts, physicians, naturalists, rural landowners, mayors, country priests, and others.
