Palestinian Resistance Literature Under Occupation, 1948-1968

Ghassan Kanafani’s Palestinian Resistance Literature Under Occupation, 1948–1968 explores literature as an act of cultural survival and political resistance. Written in the wake of the 1967 war, this extended essay examines Palestinian writing and life under occupation in the two decades following the Nakba.

Translated into English for the first time by Tarif Khalidi, the volume brings Kanafani’s analysis together with a selection of poetry, prose and dramatic writing he curated. Contributors include Mahmoud Darwish, Hanna Abu Hanna and Samih al-Qasim, among others.

This first English edition is jointly published by Verso Books and the Institute for Palestine Studies.
