Petrified Wood by Mary Scott - Lost Rocks (10)

Fictionella written for ‘Lost Rocks’ project, a slow-published artwork by artists Justy Philips and Margaret Woodward. Lost Rocks is a library of forty books, (published over five years) written by forty contemporary artists from around the world. The project is an exploration of writing, publishing and literary curating as contemporary art practice. It is in Philip’s and Woodward’s words “an accumulative event of mineralogical, metaphysical and metallurgical telling.” Herein lie reflections on journeys long and short, weighty and slight. Travels through space and time meet excursions into the substance of geology, rock and wood, and forays into the human imagination. Mary Scott lives and works in Hobart, Tasmania. Mary has been a recipient of several New Work Australia Council Grants [2008; 2002]. When she is not in her studio Scott works at the Tasmania College of the Arts where she is Senior Lecturer.
