Roxane Métayer and Charles Dubois explore a sonic ecosystem built from rudimentary percussion, prepared drums and violin, combining acoustic sound, raw materials and abstract or organic textures within a restrained field that touches on folk music, minimalism and free improvisation.

The duo plays with the inversion of instrumental roles, creating a shifting dialogue where melody, pulse and texture exchange places, the violin turning percussive or droning while bells, drums and resonant objects carry fragments of melody, small rhythms and resonances passing between wood, metal and strings as the instruments echo, follow and interrupt each other.

Song-like structures, abstract passages and open improvisation appear side by side, violin lines stretching into unstable tempos while tuned wood, bells and voices echo or shadow them, rhythms gradually forming through repetition and friction and settling into loose cycles that drift between pulse and suspension.

The music unfolds through small gestures and quiet transformations, where melodic fragments, loose pulses and resonant textures appear and disappear, leaving behind a sparse landscape of sound shaped by proximity, listening and response.

This recording documents a meeting between the two musicians at «La Galerie Sonore in Angers», invited by the concert series «Up Up and Away». Recorded by Étienne Foyer in February 2025.
