In the wise and witty poems, letters, and drawings gathered here, legendary writer Ursula K. Le Guin celebrates, contemplates, and elegizes the many cats who shared her life. The Art of Bunditsu offers a “tabbist” meditation on the principles of cat arrangement. A richly imagined correspondence between Le Guin’s cat and those of her daughter details the Five Deliberations that cats spend their lives studying. Cat T’ai Chi is illustrated in a series of sketches; the Historic First Issue! of Supermouse Comix lives once more; and whimsical postcards depict Ballooncats and Other Fancies. These rare and hard-to-find works are framed by twenty-six poems, many featuring Le Guin’s own drawings of their subjects, to form a one-of-a-kind purrpurri of all things feline from a writer who was enchanted by the inscrutable mystery of cats.

Ursula K. Le Guin (1929–2018) was the recipient of multiple Hugo, Nebula, Locus, and World Fantasy awards. In 2014, she was awarded the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. During her lifetime, she was chosen by at least nineteen cats.
