Who is Cooking? is a collection gathering memories and recipes of meals cooked in IZBA — a café run by Robida Collective and situated on the main square of Topolò (a small village in northeast Italy) — a place of daily encounters, tiny gossip, big gatherings, and celebrations.
This publication, just like IZBA, is a small universe boiling with friendships, lo(l)ve, anecdotes, and of course, recipes. Laura Savina and Ola Korbańska have gathered some of these to create the very first cookbook dedicated to this place. Structured following the day cycle — from breakfast being the most intimate of meals, till the night of dolce (dessert), passing through mountains of gnocchi and blossoming salads, sunsets of aperitivo, finally reaching linner (meals that serve both lunch and dinner) — this book is a travel through time and space: making loops of the daily cycle of feasting in Topolò, and loops of the close and further surroundings of IZBA.
Illustrations of the iconic objects of IZBA such as the grappa gun, the big family of coffee makers, the brick-sized butter, or Pelinkovač liquor bring the spirit of this incredible place. The book's paper is soft as gnocchi, and the special binding allows the pages to open flat, making it easy to follow the recipe instructions while cooking presented delicacies.
Be prepared for a mouth-watering journey, an uninterrupted loop of aromas, flavors, and stories.
