Against the backdrop of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the book sheds light not only on the little-discussed history of Russian colonialism, but also on the environmental damage caused by fossil fueled politics and wars.
The starting point for this publication is the interdisciplinary research project and exhibition Leak. The End of the Pipeline (MdbK Leipzig, 2024) on the development of the gas pipeline system between Siberia and (West) Germany since the 1970s, the situation of Indigenous peoples in Russian-occupied territories, anti-colonial activism in northern Eurasia and the involvement of (West) German industry in the exploitation of Siberian natural resources.
With contributions by Philipp Goll, Svitlana Matviyenko, Oleksiy Radynski, Johannes Rohr, Hito Steyerl and Tjan Zaochnaja, edited by Philipp Goll.
