Kümelko x Aprender del Agua. Costas de Nahuelbuta
Visions of the Pitrantu is a small book that explores the idea of a “visionary game” as a methodology of critical and artistic pedagogy that combines ecology, role-playing, and performative practices. This project emerges on the coasts of Nahuelbuta, south of Chile, within the framework of Kümelko, a community-based biocultural restoration lab focused on the relationships between territories, bodies of water, and communities.
In the Visions of the Pitrantu game, students and educators embody fictional characters to explore the pitrantu —swampy forest, in Mapudungun— from an affective and regenerative perspective. The proposal, situated in a territory marked by forestry extractivism, employs tools such as collaborative mapping, guided meditation, and character creation to promote situated learning.
In this context, to restore is also to inhabit memory, to imagine possible futures, and to rehearse new forms of relationships between humans and more-than-humans.
